Foundations
We believe that the best type of foundation is where we have a concrete beam which spans the grave, settling on the firm gound at either side.
As time goes by, the grave
might settle and if it is not on secure foundations then the memorial could tilt forwards or backwards. When we set our monuments, we check over the year to see if they are leaning due to settlement.
All cemeteries run by Harrogate council now have concrete beams nearly 16" below the surface on the new buriel sections.
We set concrete blocks onto the
beam and build upwards - ensuring the memorial is fixed to a firm foundation.
