Inscription colour.
All memorials can be gilded using top quality gold leaf, but it is granite which is most widely gilded.
Please note that some churchyards and cemeteries do have guidelines on what colours are and not exceptable. Please contact for further details.
Yorkstone is usually limited to black or brown paint by the cemetery or church authorities. Gold is possible but we find it does not last as long or that the contrast between the colours is not as good.
Slate we usually apply grey/green paint in accordance with church and cemetery regulations. Gold and aluminium or cream is also possible.
Additional inscriptions where the original inscription no longer features a paint colour
(or gold) allowed, can still be painted the same as the original.
Marble is less kind to paint, often wearing off quicker than other stones. The best type of inscription is the 'inlaid lead' method - see example shown on war memorial page.
Granite is usually gilded with best quality gold. You may prefer to have any other colours such as aluminium or cream white. For a different style of lettering - raised lead style inscription click 'Raised Lead'.
