Our History
Herbert Arthur Green, who came from a long line of stonemasons originating in Lincolnshire and Yorkshire, started his memorial business in Allhallowgate, Ripon, next to the Methodist Chapel in 1908. Soon he was to move to his current premises at 53 Blossomgate as his business and his reputation for good quality work grew.
In the coming years he took over Joseph Florentine and Sons, Ripon, Illingworth Marble Works, Harrogate, R and S Swales and Sons, Harrogate and T E Kenwright of Bishop Monkton.
After Herbert died the firm was left to his eldest son Alfred H. Green, who still runs the family business along with two of his children, Claire and Sharon.
Their aim is to continue with the same family values that Herbert had and to keep alive some of the old skills as well as embracing the new.
